It’s not just about cutting down on the amount of energy you use – it helps to research where that energy is coming from too.

Green energy comes from renewable sources such as the sun, rivers, the sea, and geothermal energy from the earth. It produces little or no or low levels of carbon. Many energy companies now offer fully green energy plans. They are a great way to invest in renewable energy sources – and save money on your bills too.

Companies that sell 100 percent renewable electricity tariffs are: Green Star Energy, Ovo Energy, Pure Planet, Robin Hood Energy, So Energy, Tonik Energy and Yorkshire Energy.

The Energy Saving Trust checked all “Green” energy tarrifs1 in February 2020 and found the most environmentally sound were:
