Description

The food system is responsible for around 30-40% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Cities all around the world are now developing their own food strategies and taking action. At a local level, the council, city and regional partners can play their part in influencing positive changes to food system through purchasing and procurement, city planning and partnerships.

‘Going for Gold’ is Bristol’s ambition to become a Gold Sustainable Food City and make positive changes to our food system.

In 2016, Bristol became only the second city to be awarded a Silver Sustainable Food Cities Award. There are only three cities with a silver award. None have been awarded gold… yet.
